Satanism is a religion that is not based on any doctrine. In 1990 there were nearly 50,000 Satanists in the world. Now there are probably 100,000.

1. Myth: Satanists sacrifice animals/people in their rituals
Fact: Satanists do not sacrifice anything. Their rules strictly forbid harming any living creature. Exceptions can be made if it is killing for food or self-defense. It says: “Do not kill non-human animals unless you are under attacked or for food.” This rule is written by Anton Szandor LaVey, Founder of the Church of Satan.
2. Myth: Satanists Harm Children
Fact: One of the rules again states “Do not harm little children”
3. Myth: Satanists force people to take part in their activities
Fact: The Church of Satan is not a traditional “cult”. It doesn’t force anyone to join. Members join due to their own free will. The Church Of Satan doesn’t disclose members to anyone. So even if there are members in Nigeria, you would never know about it. Unless members tell this to you. Also Satanism doesn’t encourage illegal activities.
4. Myth: Satanists are atheists because they don’t believe in God or The Devil.
Fact: Satanists are satanists and atheists are atheists. It is not the same thing. True atheist rejects all mystical and magical things. And Satanists believe that superstitions and magic are real.
5. Myth: Satanism teaches you to fight and to show strength
Fact: Many young people were tricked with this myth. Teens and youths want to be strong. In fact Christianity can give people inner strength and bravery as well. Christianity teaches that everything should be done in balance and in proper perspectives. Satanists are not powerful people who “stand on their own two feet” anyway. They all belong to a personality group centered around Anton La Vey. Labeling themselves as Satanists only makes people not take them seriously, rather than have an actual advantage, and only weakening their overall personal image.
